How to start a new plumbing career....
At the Plumbing College we understand that the prospect of starting a new plumbing career can be daunting, the number of plumbing courses and qualifications available can make things very confusing, so by writing this post hopefully we can help??
As standard the plumbing industry recommends that would be plumbers gain an NVQ (level 2) before entering the trade, however this creates a real chicken and egg moment! As you may know an NVQ is a work based qualification so can only be achieved once in the industry, so here begins the problem….how do I get into the plumbing industry to start my new career?!
Many of our potential students are currently employed and are simply looking to retrain and change career paths. These circumstances govern the best route that they should take into the plumbing industry, for example, working as an apprentice plumber is often impossible due to the low wages (and that’s if you can find someone to take you on in the first place), also giving up work or other commitments altogether to go into full time education proves even more difficult!
So what is the answer? How do I get from where I am now into the plumbing industry and on the path to a new successful plumbing career?
Well, because we have been aware of all of these problems for some time the Plumbing College has evolved a plumbing course to help work around peoples personal circumstances. We offer students the opportunity to study their plumbing courses by the medium of ‘blended learning’, this unique structure enables students to continue with their everyday lives whilst studying both the theory and practical elements of the course alongside them.
Successful completion of the plumbing course will earn students a fully personalised portfolio of work and a number of trade recognised qualifications (follow this link to understand more about the course qualifications). This, together with the new found theory and practical plumbing knowledge, will enable students to enter the plumbing industry with confidence whether in an employed or self employed capacity. Once in the plumbing industry progression onto an NVQ is achievable!
I hope this information has been useful, if you would like more details on the course or just some further advice feel free to call us on 0800 032 2452 or email.
